Beyond Impressions

God said:

Harmony of the heart is being in tune with Me. Harmony does not have to mean agreement. Harmony is more like peace. People can be opposed in their thoughts and opinions, and yet there is no opposition. There is acceptance. There is no need to change how anyone thinks. What does it matter if one calls the sky green and the grass blue?

Ways to think cannot be forced. No one can be made to think one way or another. It is not obligatory. Thoughts do change, yet they can change only of their own accord. Thoughts have a will of their own. You cannot by dint of will change even your own thoughts let alone someone else’s. Yet the day will come when your thoughts do change.

Thoughts resemble beliefs. You believe what you believe. No matter what the reward or punishment, you can only believe what you believe. You can act differently from what you believe. You can pretend to believe and not yet believe.

Yet it is good to have your thoughts and actions coincide. If you think to do a kind act, follow through on it. Do not let opportunities go by. Then you will not have regrets. A kind thought is good. A kind thought acted on is better.

By what means do thoughts change? You cannot make them change, yet thoughts change. Thoughts change when a light goes on. Your thoughts are based on your perceptions. How you think depends upon how you see.

Today you see the person in front of you as a friend. Tomorrow you may see him as a foe. Have you not experienced this or vice versa? The person before you is what you make of him. You paint your own picture with the brushes of your perception.

You may say that another’s person’s words, actions, or reactions are what you base your thoughts on. Beloveds, you base your thoughts on your interpretation of another’s words, actions, or reactions. You must know this is so. There may be someone you cannot tolerate, and someone else loves that person you cannot tolerate.

You may say that the person you don’t like shows himself in a different light to the one who loves him. That may well be so. And yet it is also possible that he gives the best of himself because the one who loves him sees him differently and treats him differently too.

Your interpretations are everything, beloveds.

This is true in nations as well. In one culture, a certain action is considered lovely. In another culture, it may be viewed as not lovely. If you see friendliness, odds are you will respond in friendliness. If you see aloofness, odds are you will be aloof also.

What else is there to say, beloveds, but that you think and act based upon your impressions. True or false, right or wrong, you respond to how you see.

Now you are coming to the point where you go beyond impressions. You come to the point where you come from, not where you surmise someone else to be, but from where you are.

You are not to spend your life bouncing off other people. If you must bounce, bounce off Me, beloveds. It will feel good, and you will be so gentle.

You will stand on a mountain top. You will be the mountain. What fuss will a mountain make of grass that grows at its feet. What will the mountain mind? What will it object to? What will it not love when it stands so tall above the madding crowd?

The Sun Rises

God said:

When you wake up in the morning, you are like the sun just rising. It is automatic for you to rise out of bed. And, now, begin to think that you are rising in order for your light to shine on the day. With what alacrity will you rise? And imagine the alacrity with which the world will greet you.

The world has been waiting for you. You are the Second Coming, beloveds. You are here to brighten up the world. You are to raise yourself to great heights so that the world can rise with you. The world has to rise. It can rise only according to you. The world follows in your footsteps.

When you wake up in the morning, be like the sun rising over the horizon. Spread the rays of your heart wide. The dew of the grass will reflect your light.

Today, all during the day, look at everyone as a sun rising before you. Never mind clouds that might cover the sun before you. The sun of the person before you may be unaware of his own sunlight. Let him see his light in your eyes then. Let him be ennobled by your light shining on him.

You are a light that shines. That is My will, beloveds. Even as you are someone who has to go to work, perhaps take the subway, go to a job that you are tired of, that is where your light is to shine. Light up the subway by your own radiance. Light up your job by your very presence. Blazon your light, beloveds, so that others may see it and so that you yourself may see your own light in all its splendor.

Do not tell yourself that, as one person, you are incapable of lighting the world. You have sometimes let one person darken your world, haven't you? One person's expression or word has shrunk your heart. Is not light as powerful as the dark? Beloveds, light is more powerful. Your light is more powerful. If you think your light isn't exceedingly powerful, you have been kidding yourself.

Remember that you are a shiner of light. You are not a bearer of bad news. You are not someone who is to keep yourself or anyone or the world glued in place. You are to loosen the bonds that keep people in place. You are to free the world to its own possibilities. It is you who will make possibilities certainties.

The way to do this is for you to stop looking at your feet. Cease to look at things as they have been. Begin to look at the world as it is meant to be looked at. See the possibilities. There is an untraveled path before you. That is the path to take. Your step will be light. The path will be well-lighted. You will have lighted it. Before you know it, there will be no path under you. You who are light will be walking on light. The light you follow is your own light radiated before you. There will be no detouring from it, so clear will be the light that you are, so strong will be the signal you send.

Your path is well-lighted. Do not for one moment delude yourself that you are in darkness. Dark is merely a subterfuge. It is a scam. Even if you have previously bought into darkness a thousand times, today you buy into light, and know it is yours, and yours to shine so that you may see it and see all others warmed in the rising light that you are.

Beyond Compassion: Letting Go of Suffering

Proof of Love

God said:
You have a tendency to crave proof of love. You tend to see that yesterday you were loved by the one you love, and today you perceive that the love given you is less. It is not demonstrated as well. You long for the sweet words of yesterday. You feel that you must have it. Your longing for love may be insatiable.

Proof of love is a myth, beloved. Love does not have to declare itself. Let love be. Let it have its quiet non-demonstrative moments. Let it be a growing flower that you do not check up on incessantly.

Proof of love is not needed. Stalwartness of love is needed. You need to know your own love and that it is not dependent upon what someone else says or does. You don't need flowers sent to you every day. If flowers were sent to you every day, would you then crave two bouquets a day?

Love cannot be measured. It is measureless. You cannot put love in a teacup or even a tureen of love. There is an ocean of love, and yet love is bigger than the ocean. Love has no top nor bottom, so how then could it be measured? By what means?

Love, attempted to be measured, flees. Trust in love. Instead of fearing that it is no longer, instead of fearing that you no longer merit it, that it has been taken away from you and put somewhere else or nowhere else or simply flown away like a butterfly that alighted and then flew off you know not where without a backward glance, trust and attend to your own wayward heart.

If your love is dependent upon proof of love, then it would seem that your love is a dribble of love. Perhaps the proof you have been adding up, is proof of the lack of love in your own heart. Love does not require a daily feeding. Nor are you a fool for love. You may be a fool to attachment to receipt of love, as if love were purchased, weighed and measured, and handed out as you require.

If you find the love in your own heart lacking, then let go of the idea. The love in your own heart does not need to be demonstrated any more than anyone else's love. Love comes by its own decree. Love comes silently without fanfare. Beloveds, you do not even need to hear the violins of your own love. Let love rest. Beloveds, you are not even dependent upon displays of your own love.

Love is not anything to worry about! Love is. Let your heart be quiet for a while. Let it be. Your heart which is full of love does not have to bubble every minute. You do not have to see love bubbling, not even the love in your own heart. You have it. It is there. Leave it alone. It will burst forth soon enough. It will burst forth on its own without prodding from you.

When you see a lovely flower, you do not think: "Oh, I must love this flower." Nor do you think: "This lovely flower must love me, or I am bereft." No, you simply bend down and smell the sweet flower. And if you are outside, and you see a flower through a window, looking at the flower through a window serves well.

You do not have to have love. Do you see what I mean? You do not have to have it wrapped up. You do not have to take it home with you. You do not have to have it.

Let the love within you simmer at low speed, if that's what it wants. Love is not arbitrary. It is a given. Love will come out well enough on its own.
